Lucknow: The general secretary of
Lohia Vahini's city unit
Manish Giri alias
Mantu Baba was killed over his illicit relations with the wife of his murderer.
Giri was killed at the house of his acquaintance, a labourer, on Monday night and was found lying in a pool of blood when police arrived for investigation.
The revelation came up after
Gomtinagar police arrested assailant
Lalaram Chandrwar of
Chhattisgarh and recovered the axe with which he had struck Giri.
Gomtinagar police station officer
Dhirendra Shukla said Giri had facilitated the rented house in which
Lalaram along with his wife and children used to live in a slum near the railway crossing in Gomtinagar Extention.
He said police got a message from the control room at 12.02am on Tuesday and a team was dispatched to the scene. Giri was lying dead on a bed in the shanty.
"There were injuries at the back of his head and doctors declared him brought dead," he said.
Shukla said police came to know that Giri used to visit Lalaram's house at odd hours much to his chagrin. "Lalaram suspected his wife had an affair with Giri," said Shukla. The SO added the police had launched a manhunt.
Lalaram owned his crime and disclosed that he suspected his wife was having an affair with Giri and on a number of occasions he had objected to the latter's visit to their house. The miscreant said he had verbal spat with Giri on the issue in the past too and the latter used to threaten him of dire consequences, boasting of his police connections.
