Minister takes stock of situation at district hospital
Noida: After getting information of construction at the district hospital in Sector 30, MoS for Family, Women and Child Welfare (independent charge) Ravidas Mehrotra on Tuesday visited Noida and inspected the hospital.
Taking note of the fact that the Noida Authority constructed apartments on the hospital’s land, Mehrotra formed a committee to study the issue and submit a report to the government within a week.

The panel consists of Gautam Budh Nagar Chief Medical Officer (CMO) SC Gupta, Chief Medical Superintendent of the district hospital NM Mathur and two other doctors, an official statement of the health department said.
Further, Mehrotra directed the authorities to make the cycle parking space for patients’ relatives free of charge and instructed hospital staff to keep the beds neat and clean.
“To ensure that clean beds are maintained at the wards in the hospital, it has been decided that bedsheets will be changed every day and the colour will also be fixed for them,” Mehrotra said after meeting health department officials of all six districts under Meerut division at the Jaypee Hospital at Sector 128.
At the Sector 30 district hospital, Mehrotra also took rounds of the female, children and medicine ward. After talking to several women admitted at the hospital, Mehrotra got to know that many of them were ignorant that they are entitled to a sum of Rs 1,400 if they delivered a child at a government hospital.

“Around 56 lakh children are born in Uttar Pradesh every year. Around 20 lakh of them are born at home, due to which at least 3,50,000 children die every year as they are deprived of proper treatment. The Janani Suraksha Yojana of the government encourages organised births but several women are ignorant of the same,” Mehrotra said.
Under the scheme, the mother is provided free treatment and food at the time of the delivery.
