Kin cry foul after patient dies, probe panel formed
Noida: A wrong injection allegedly led to the death of a patient, Kanchan Mishra, at ESIC Hospital here on Tuesday. Her relatives made a scene at the hospital and lodged a complaint at the Sector 24 police station.
Neeraj Kumar, SHO at the Sector 24 police station, confirmed to TOI that a complaint has been receibved from Mishra’s relatives and that an FIR would be registered after due investigation.

The hospital has formed a committee to probe the allegation. Dr Neelima, director of ESIC Hospital, said the woman was lying on her bed when her family members gave her water. “This water went into her wind pipe, leading to her death. We have formed a three-member committee to probe the incident,” she said.
Mishra, who was from Haibatpur, was admitted to the hospital late on Monday night after she fell sick and vomited.
The doctors admitted her and administered an injection and some medicines to her. According to the family members, the injection led to a “reaction”.
“We tried to call the lady doctor concerned from the duty room but the guard told us that she was sleeping and asked us to leave,” said Vikas, a family member. The doctor arrived around 5am but by then the patient's condition had deteriorated. It was suggested that the patient be shifted to another hospital. But she was not referred to any hospital till 7am and she died around 8.45am.
“Our family member died because of the doctor’s negligence,” Vikas said.
