Yamunanagar, August 9

Kurukshetra University (KU) has withdrawn its approval to the appointment of Parmod Kumar Bajpai as the principal of Maharaja Agrasen Mahavidyalaya (MAM), Jagadhri .

In a letter to the president of the governing body of the MAM on August 6, the Dean of Colleges, KU, said: “The case has been considered by the Vice-Chancellor and he has withdrawn the approval to the appointment of Dr Parmod Kumar Bajpai as principal in 2011.”

GD Gupta, an advocate, had complained that Bajpai had concealed a criminal case pending against him while applying for the post of principal in 2011.

Gupta had filed a PIL before the Punjab and Haryana High Court in 2015 in which the court ordered the Director, Higher Education, Haryana, to pass speaking orders after having a representation from the petitioner.

Gupta said Vikas Yadav, the then Director,Higher Education, found Bajpai guilty of concealing facts regarding the criminal case.

Gupta said he had forwarded copies of the order of the High Court as well as that of the Director, Higher Education, to the KU Vice-Chancellor.

Praveen Goyal, president of the governing body of the MAM, said he had not yet received the letter from Kurukshetra University.

Parmod Kumar Bajpai did not make any statement when contacted on the phone.
