Speaking at a rally in Alirajpur district of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, the Indian Prime Minister made an effort to reach out to the protesting youths in the valley.  "It is sad that boys who should be holding laptops, cricket bats have been handed stones in their hands."

"Every Indian loves Kashmir. The freedom that every Indian has also belongs to every Kashmiri. We want the same bright future for every youth in Kashmir," Modi said.

Blaming the ongoing violence in the valley on "some missguided people", Modi said his government is ready to do whatever the people of Kashmir want for betterment of their livelihood.

Invoking the words of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's mantra of "insaniyat, jamhuriyat and Kashmiriyat (humanity, democracy and Kashmiri-ethinicity), Modi said dialogue is the way forward to resolve the crisis.

This is the first time Modi has spoken on the ongoing violence in Kashmir which erupted following the killing of Hizbul commander Burhan Wani last month.
