The Anti-Terrorism Squad on Monday arrested one more person in connection with an alleged Islamic State module that was busted in the State last month.
The interrogation of Raeesuddin Siddiqui, a teacher with a Zilla Parishad school in Hingoli in Aurangabad, is crucial as his job put him in touch with young, impressionable minds, said ATS officials. “Siddiqui was earlier staying in Parbhani and had recently shifted to Hingoli, after which he took up his job as a teacher. His name came up during the interrogation of three people we arrested earlier. Siddiqui was picked up in the morning and placed under arrest in the evening,” the officer added.
“Some mutual friends of Siddiqui and the other accused are also under the scanner,” he added.
The alleged module was busted on July 14 with the arrest of Naseerbin Chaus (31), a civil contractor from Parbhani, allegedly in direct touch with one Farokh, an IS handler in Syria. The ATS had earlier arrested two more people: Shahid Khan on July 24, and Iqbal Ahmed on Sunday from Parbhani. The accused are believed to have been in touch with Farookh and some other individuals from Syria through online chat services.
