Civic line burst causes massive cave-in in Meghaninagar

AHMEDABAD: An underground civic line burst on the busy Meghaninagar road on Sunday leading to a massive cave-in on Monday. The vulnerable situation of city roads is showing up with the onset of monsoon. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) officials claimed water from the burst pipe had caused a big chunk of earth beneath the road surface to slip. Officials had to dig around the spot where the pipe had burst to ensure that passersby do not mistake it for safe ground.Repairs will take nearly five more days. The cave-in and digging already caused traffic jams, especially during evening peak hours. Meanwhile, the south zone of the AMC has already begun inspecting condition of roads in its jurisdiction, as many of them were recently resurfaced.
