Ludhiana: Three days after a Basant Nagar resident was feared drowned in Sidhwan Canal in Daba, police have booked three of his friends for "pushing" him into the water body after getting drunk.
The accused have been identified as Tejinder Singh, a resident of Gill, Bakshish Singh and Amandeep Singh, residents of Lohara. In his police complaint, Mohinder Singh, father of Major Singh, 40, said, "Tejinder had come to our house to pick up my son on Thursday.
After sometime, he called up my younger son, saying Major had jumped into Sidhwan."
Within half an hour Major's family reached the spot. "We tried to find him, but there was no trace of him. His friends had killed him by pushing him into the water body after getting drunk," he added. After the body was recovered on Sunday, police booked the three under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder). A cop said, "The post-mortem examination report will give some clarity to the case."
