Rumor has it that Nintendo will be coming out of the box strong when the NX platform launches in the near future. MCV UK is reporting that many of Nintendo's first-party AAA titles, including new games in the Pokémon, Legend of Zelda, and Super Mario series, will be available within the first six months of the NX's launch. If rumors are true, it's the system itself that may not be what fans had originally envisioned.
For now, nothing has been confirmed about the Nintendo NX except that it exists and will sport a few big names in its gaming lineup, such as Dragon Quest X and XI and Project Sonic 2017. It's pretty typical to see exclusive Legend of Zelda and Super Mario titles on a dedicated Nintendo console, but getting them earlier in the NX's lifespan would certainly be a nice way to get the ball rolling. We already know that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will be making its way to Nintendo NX, but there are currently no Mario or Pokémon games announced. Seeing these two major franchises within the first six months of the NX's life will certainly be interesting.
However, it doesn't appear that the NX will appeal to the hardcore Nintendo gaming crowd. The company is determined to not relive the unfortunate Wii U release incidents, but the upcoming console is reportedly made to appeal mostly to mobile gamers and long-time Nintendo fans. The same anonymous sources that have revealed the information regarding the aforementioned main series launches have also confirmed that the console will be portable and cartridge-based. Because of this, its graphics will reportedly sit somewhere between those of the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
MCV UK's source specifically states that the NX "won't appeal" to PS4 fans. Instead Nintendo is focusing mostly on pushing casual players into a realm between mobile gaming and hardcore gaming. For now, everything is just a rumor until Nintendo officially reveals its console in the coming months. The Nintendo NX, whatever it may be, is currently set to launch worldwide in March 2017.
