Discoms’ meet postponed

Chandigarh: The meeting of the discoms scheduled for Monday to discuss the merger of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) has been posponed.

The meeting of the discoms scheduled for Monday to discuss the merger of the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) has been posponed. Nitin Kumar Yadav, MD of the UHBVN, said the meeting had been postponed because Additional Chief Secretary (Power) Rajan Gupta was out of station. He said no new date for the meeting had been finalised so far. TNS

Profs nominated to council  

Two professors of Kurukshetra University (KU) have been selected as Chancellor's nominee to the Executive Council of the Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar. A release said Prof MM Goel, Dean of Colleges, is a professor of economics and Prof Pawan Sharma, Dean, Students’ Welfare, is from the department of chemistry. TNS

5 held for robbery  

The police have arrested five men on the charge of robbery. The accused belonged to Madhya Pradesh. The police said their suspicious movements in the city led to their arrest on Monday. They are suspected to be involved in more than six cases of robbery in the district. TNS   

Ambala

1 killed in road mishap

A resident of Model Town here died on Monday when he was run over by a Haryana Roadways bus while reading Activa near Mixi Chowk at Ambala City. The deceased has been identified as Kuldeep. He was going to Kaulan village with a friend when the incident happened. Kuldeep died on the spot, while the pillion passenger sustained injuries and was admitted to the Civil Hospital. A case has been registered against the bus driver. OC

Cong, INLD workers join BJP 

Several workers from the INLD and the Congress joined the BJP in the presence of Rao Surender Singh here on Monday. Rao Surender Singh welcomed the workers. The workers said they were uncomfortable in their respective parties as they were just being used to make up numbers in rallies. OC

Rohtak

100 booked for ruckus 

The police on Monday booked 100 persons on the charge of ransacking the toll plaza at Madina village on the Delhi-Hisar National Highway 10 and assaulting the staff on Tuesday.The mob had allegedly created the ruckus to demand that the residents of nearby villages should be exempted from paying the toll.
