Five city musicians record Subhen Chatterjee's Song for Aabesh
Percussionist Subhen Chatterjee is all set to release a song in the memory of Aabesh Dasgupta. Chatterjee, who has been actively involved with the Justice for Aabesh movement, has roped in five popular musicians of the city to record this song.
Said Chatterjee, 'I have known Aabesh from his childhood. His father was a friend of mine. I am shocked with the way he died and will fight till the end for justice.' This week, Chatterjee took time out to compose a song for Aabesh whose catchline is 'Besh besh besh Aabesh.'

Among the singers who recorded this number were Surojit of Bhoomi, Sidhu of Cactus, Pota, Miss Jojo and Paroma Banerji.
Chatterjee is 'overwhelmed' by the response that he has got from his friends in the music industry. 'So many of them willingly wanted to be a part of the song. Surojit, Sidhu, Pota, Jojo and Paroma have busy schedules. Yet, they came down to the studio and recorded the song. None of them have charged any honorarium for this. Even the Studio Prasad where we recorded the song didn't charge anything. I am touched,' he said. Earlier on, Debajyoti Mishra had also released a song on Aabesh. Penned by Suman Some, the song is called: 'Sob sesh tobu swapner desh rekhe jae resh e Aabesh'.
A video of Chatterjee's music recording session has also been done. 'This song too has been penned by Suman. Here, we want to show Aabesh's journey. The idea behind the lyrics is to imagine what Aabesh would have felt had he seen what is happening now. We will use footage of our movement in the video,' Chatterjee said.
As for the investigation, Chatterjee said he is waiting for the police to reveal the truth. 'We need to give 90 days time for the police to complete the investigation. But in between, we can't just sit back and stop the movement. That's why we decided to assemble at 27 Lake Avenue on Saturday evening and have people express their views on the issue. While we sing, artists have been invited to paint as well. Not just celebrities, even commoners can come and speak at the event,' Chatterjee signed off.
