Rohit Roy is disappointed with the kind of content on TV these days

Actor Rohit Roy , who has done both films and TV and is equally active in theatre, was recently in the city couldn't stop gushing about Jaipur's beauty . He and the way the city makes him feel at home.
“Every time I land in Jaipur, I feel like I am at home. Though I have no connection with Rajasthan; I am a Bengali. This city is so colourful and has an earthy charm.The sheer warmth of the city makes me feel like I have come home. People of Jaipur are extremely welcoming. For the past few years, I have been coming to Rajasthan, Jaipur in particular, for events, weddings and corporate shows. I feel that just a day in Jaipur is never enough,“ Rohit said.

Having shot for a couple of TV shows in Jaipur and other locations in the state, Roy recalled an instance when a group of Rajasthani folk musicians had left him awestruck while he was shooting for a serial in the city.
“I was shooting for a daily soap in Jaipur; I can't remember the name. But I do remember an incident when I and my co-actors were exploring the city during our free time. And I happened to listen to some local musicians at a place. They performed brilliantly; I was awestruck by their performance. That day I realised that it's not just Jaipur, but the entire Rajasthan boasts of so much talent ­ talent that has not yet been tapped fully. There are many who belong to this state and have done wonders in our (entertainment) industry . But still, there are many who are waiting for the right platform,“ he said.
Rohit is currently busy shooting for his next film Kaabil that features Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam. The film also features Rohit's brother and actor Ronit Roy . “We are playing brothers in the film too ­ both of us will be seen as villains,“ he said. In the past, the Roy brothers have shared screen space in the TV show Sarrkkar ... Risshton Ki Ankahi Kahani.
The actor, who has done hit shows like Swabhimaan and Rishtey, is disappointed with the kind of content on TV these days. "I am a little upset about the kind of content that is being shown on Indian television these days. TV is a huge medium and I am proud to be called a TV actor. But we need to understand that this medium impacts a lot of people in a big way. Look at the American shows- they have amazing content. Yeh bolna ki unke pass budget zyada hai isliye unke shows acche hain, yeh galat hai. We have so much to show - India is full of culture and stories. Hum bus banaana nahi chahte hain. Suddenly, in the middle of a good show, you see icchadhari naagins, ghosts and daayans. It's sad, " he expressed.
