VADODARA: A large number of tourists were stranded at the foot of Pavagadh hill on Sunday after it rained heavily. The police said that it rescued over 170 persons from a secluded spot near Pavagadh after hours of rescue operation.According to the police, many of the tourists visiting Pavagadh often visit the Khutiya Mahadev Temple that is located at the foot of the hill in Halol.

People have to walk through uneven roads and large rocks for about four kilometers before they reach the spot. "Many visit the spot to enjoy the waterfall during monsoons," said locals.
The police said that hundreds of tourists went to the waterfall on Sunday when it was raining heavily.
"Water levels swelled on the route leaving 170 persons stranded near the temple. They were rescued with the help of ropes," the police said.The locals too joined the cops to ensure safety of the tourists.
Meanwhile, the city also received intermittent bouts of rainfall on Sunday.
