LAHORE: A six-member team of the Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122 has completed an emergency and disaster management training from the United Kingdom to deal with emergencies at Orange Metro Train (OMT) sites. This team was sent to UK for a specialised training after instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. The training was organised by Hanzala Malik, former Scottish Parliament member, in continuation of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Lahore City and Glasgow. District Emergency Officer Dr Ahmad Raza briefed Rescue 1122 Director General Brigadier (r) Dr Ashrad Zia about the 10-day academic and practical simulation-based training from the Scottish Fire Service. Under the training programme, Emergency Officer Shahid Waheed Qammer, Rescue and Safety Officer Muhammad Azam, Emergency Medical Technician Naeemur Rehman, Fire Rescuer Amjad Khan and DERT Rescuer Muhammad Jahangir went imparted on the field training by Scottish Transport System and Scottish Ambulance Service. The team also received a comprehensive training on underground structure and tunnels, incident command considerations, hazard risk vulnerability assessment, specialised equipment, major incident planning, underground stations visits, road traffic crashes management, contingency planning, strategic planning control rooms and paramedical cycle programme.
