KANGRA, AUGUST 7

Chaos prevailed on the 15-km link road connecting Rajol to Baidi village this afternoon when hundreds of vehicles were stuck for a few hours here.

It was following a landslide on the Pathankot-Mandi highway at Bhanoi near the Kangra airport at 4 pm that the road was blocked and hundreds of vehicles got stranded.

Satish Nag, Superintending Engineer, National Highway, said JCB machines were pressed into service to remove the debris.

The traffic was diverted from Gaggal to Pathankot via Sanoura-Baidi-Rajol, a narrow link road. The vehicles followed the same road from the Rajol side too and within half an hour, hundreds of vehicles got stuck in a jam with no police personnel in sight. After one-and-a-half hours, the traffic on the Pathankot-Mandi highway was restored.
