Passengers protest over wrong coach
New Delhi: Passengers of Ernakulam Duronto Express protested at Nizamuddin railway station on Saturday night when they found a general coach in place of the sleeper coach they had paid for. Senior railway officials said the coach had a technical glitch and had to be replaced for the safety of the passengers.
Around 9pm, the passengers approached senior officers when they could not find the S-5 coach of the Kerala-bound train.
“We reported the matter to senior officers who said that no arrangements could be made at the last minute, and asked us to approach railway ministry officials. About 40 of us stood in front of the engine and demanded the senior railway officers to come to the spot,” said Ashok Kumar, who had gone to see off his cousin. Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police personnel had to be called to control the crowd.
