GUJRANWALA/SAHIWAL/HAFIZABAD-Eight persons including two minor children and two women were killed in various incidents of violence, honour killing and other incidents occurred separately in different areas on Saturday.
In Gujranwala a man committed suicide by jumping in front of a moving train here at Kamoke on Saturday. The police and eye-witnesses said that an unidentified man, appeared to be 28-year-old came at Dewan Phattak and all of sudden jumped in front of Rawalpindi-bound training coming from Lahore. Resultantly, he was crushed to death. The police shifted body of the man whose identity could not be ascertained till filing of this report.
On GT Road near Kotly Pir Ahmed Shah, a man died in collision between a motorcycle and donkey-cart. Rescue sources said that Luqman, 22, was going on a motorcycle when a donkey-cart collided with the bike. He sustained critical injuries and was rushed to DHQ hospital where he breathed his last.
Similarly a welder died in a cylinder blast here on College Road. The rescue sources informed that Muhammad Farooq, 35, resident of Noor Bawa, was working in his welding shop on College Road. Suddenly a gas cylinder exploded with a bang, leaving him with critical burns. He was taken to DHQ hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
On the other hand, a minor boy drowned in water tub in his house situated on Jinnah Road. One and half years old Haider Ali was playing when suddenly he fell into the tub filled with water. He was rushed to DHQ hospital but he could not survive.
In Sahiwal, a minor girl was killed by a man in Chak 5-80 /R in the jurisdiction of Fatah Sher Police.
The police sources said that the one and half years old minor girl was ruthlessly shot dead by an unidentified man by firing bullets into her chest and dumped her body in a cotton field.
On information, the police shifted the dead body to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities. The minor was later laid to rest after her identity could not be ascertained.
The police have registered a case without any clue or arrest.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old girl was killed by some unidentified accused and dumped her dead body under a tree alongside a nullah. The police also have registered a case.
In Hafizabad, a woman, said to be mother of four children, committed suicide by jumping into Jhang Branch Canal over her strained relations with her husband.
According to police source, deceased Rukhsana Kousar, daughter of Abdul Rasheed, resident of Bhoon Khurd village was married to Muhammad Idrees in Chak Bhatti village about 15 years ago. However, the couple failed to developed cordial relations. As a result, she settled with her parents in Bhoon Khurd. The other day, Abdul Rasheed visited his in-laws and requested the deceased to go back with him. But she in sheer frustration jumped into the nearby canal and was drowned. Rescue-1122 rushed to the spot but despite hectic efforts, her dead body could not be recovered yet.
In Kasur, a man shot his daughter dead over contracting marriage of her choice in Ellahabad area here the other day. According to police, the deceased identified as Nazia Bibi, a resident of Depalpur Road Ellahabad, contracted love-marriage with Inam Ullah against the will of her parents. The other day, she was on the way back home with her husband on a motorbike after purchasing some goods from bazaar. As the couple reached near their house, the girl's father namely Amin shot his daughter dead. The Ellahabad Police registered a case against the accused.
