AHEMEDABAD: Chandkheda police on Friday registered a complaint under sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act after a stray dog died from acid allegedly thrown by a local resident. Another local, the complainant, has revealed who had committed the barbaric act.
Chandkheda police said Vishal Panchal, a resident of Gujarat Housing Board, Chandkheda, has registered a complaint against Ketan Patel, a resident of the same area, for causing the dog's death.
Accordint to the complaint, Patel was annoyed by the dog and had thrown acid at it near a tailor shop, Rangoli Tailors, on July 28 at around 12 noon. Patel had earlier beaten up the same dog.
"The dog had developed burn injuries. It was under treatment, but failed to recover and died at 2 pm on Friday, after which Panchal has registered a complaint. We are yet to record Patel's statement in the case," said a Chandkheda police official.
