Pune Metro ‘Bhoomipujan’ likely this year: BJP MP Anil Shirole

Shirole said he has also met the railway minister to get an NOC on the Pune Metro. Regarding lack of provision in the state budget for Pune Metro, Shirole said,”Money will not be a hindrance for the project … everything will be taken care of.” Similarly, he said the NGT objections will also be addressed.

Shirole had said he will release a report about the two years of his tenure on August 14. “This is being done as per the directions of the party’s central leadership. We will be presenting a report to the public about the promises made and promises kept by me,” he said.

Shirole said the party’s leadership has directed all 282 MPs to present the report and highlight the work done by them as per the manifesto. The function will be held at Balgandharva Rang Mandir on August 14. Among other BJP leaders, Nitin Gadkari and Prakash Javadekar will be present, he said.

Giving an insight into his work, Shirole said whether it was the long-pending work of railway overbridge at Ghorpade, the airport expansion or pushing the Metro project, he has worked on several fronts relentlessly and would like present the work before the public.

“The railway overbridge work was pending for very long. The airport expansion was required till the new one actually comes into being,” he said. He said he has worked on Pune’s traffic issues as well as also trying to make Pune a slum-free city.

Shirole added he hoped the new Pune airport’s “bhoomipujan” too will be performed sooner.
