The torrential rain, which has been lashing Indora and mand area since Friday night, has created flood-like situation, disrupting normal life of the people.

Railway tracks at Kandrori were submerged which resulted into the suspension of rail traffic on the Pathankot-Jalandhar section from 10 am to 3 pm. The power supply in most parts of the area has been affected due to falling of electricity poles and trees. Rain water entered houses and shops of locals. The administration has requisitioned the services of the local NDRF for relief and rescue operation in the mand area.

As per information, Dhussi Bandh, raised by the Army two years ago on the Chhonch khud, was washed away following which flood water entered the houses at Shekhupura and Kandrori villages.

In some houses, the water level was at 4 or 5 feet. The flood water also damaged maize and paddy crops. According to an estimate, 70 villages have been cut off due to damage of road.

Malot Bridge on the Mohatli-Pathankot-Indora road was damaged and the Public Works Department has closed this road. A number of culverts were damaged. Water also entered a government school at Kandrori and local youths rescued students and the staff.
