Abhijit Vaghani, who has produced music for numerous Bollywood movies including 'Dishoom', 'Azhar', 'Ki & Ka', 'Sarbjit', 'Airlift' and 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' and composed the background score for 50 films, has turned music composer with the new single, 'Pyaar Manga Hai'. He has recreated the famous Kishore Kumar track and roped in Armaan Malik and Neeti Mohan to lend their voices to it.
He says, It is stressful to remake classics as people are usually cynical about it.
So when I learnt that I had to recreate the track, I was harrowed. But having worked with Armaan and Neeti earlier, I knew that they would nail it. The original song only had Kishore saabs vocals. Adding female verse to it was a challenge. Abhijit says that his experience as a music producer came in handy while working on this track. While Ive learnt to play songs on the keyboard, production has made it easier for me to understand the combinations of various instruments. He adds that though power-packed action scores and party numbers are his fort, he thoroughly enjoys composing ballads, too.
The artiste, who is inspired by works of legendary musicians like RD Burman, Bappi Lahiri and AR Rahman, takes cues from ambient sounds like houseware, everyday chores and nature for his background score. Ask him what is he currently busy with and he replies, I am working on a single and films like 'Commando 2', 'Kaabil', 'MS Dhoni', 'Baar Baar Dekho'. I may also end up singing for one of my compositions.
