If we do get to see Diego Forlan playing in ISL 2016, it will be in a Mumbai City FC jersey. The franchise is co-owned by Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor.

Goal India first revealed the news on Saturday and if it really turns out to be true, Mumbai City FC are on the verge of announcing a statement signing. "We are no more talking with the Kolkata team [Atletico de Kolkata]," Pablo Forlan, the footballer's brother and agent, told the Indian publication. "Yes, we are in advanced talks with Mumbai City. We have to see if the deal goes through.

According to the Times of India, the Kolkata outfit, the champions in the first edition of Indian Super League, decided not to pursue the former Atletico Madrid and Manchester United forward after the parties did not come to agreement with the player's high wages. "Although there are no agreements in place, there have been talks [with Mumbai City FC]," a source told TOI.

"They are still in negotiations over the final offer. The issue with Atletico [de Kolkata] was they didn't want to pay so much money for just four months. But Mumbai City seems really interested in having the striker on board," the source added.

Forlan left his boyhood club Penarol in June this year, but the club's president, Juan Pedro Damiani, wants the star forward to return for the upcoming season as well. The player, meanwhile, revealed recently that he met the officials of Brazilian side Atletico Paranaense but they couldn't come to agreement over a free transfer.

"I met with Atletico Paranaense [Brazil] but we couldn't reach an agreement," Forlan said. "I would like to keep playing and I am listening to all offers. I didn't hear anything from the United States. I am looking for a proposal that is more than just football so I am in no hurry."
