Proton pump inhibitor Nexium Control is now available to buy OTC, without a prescription, following a reclassification decision by the MHRA. Nexium Control provides 24-hour protection from heartburn and is indicated in the UK for the short-term management of reflux symptoms in adults aged 18 and over. It offers an alternative option to antacids and alginates, which do not deliver the sustained relief that some sufferers need to keep their symptoms under control, says manufacturer Pfizer. Nexium Control can provide 24-hour protection against heartburn with just one tablet a day, adds the company.

The launch is being supported by ongoing pharmacy training and trade support, as well as an extensive customer campaign including advertising, PR, online and POS materials.
