A dialogue between Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor from blockbuster Deewar, Bidi jalai le song from the movies Omkara, all-time favorite dialogues by actors Raj Kumar and Madhuri Dixit-Nene – all figured in the state legislative assembly speeches on Friday.

The final day of the Monsoon session saw a discussion on Mumbai under section 292 proposal by the Opposition. Criticising the government, leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil said the chief minister was on a clean chit spree and was giving clean chits to all his ministers after every scam allegation. He said the ministers are now saying 'to mee navhech (I am not the one you are alleging to be)', based on the lines of protagonist of a famous Marathi play with the same title.

After giving details of scams by various ministers, Vikhe-Patil challenged the chief minister and said, "I am asking the CM, mere paas sach hai or saboot hai, tumhare paas kya hai? (I have truth and evidence. What do you have?"

But it was NCP leader Jayant Patil who stole the show with his timing and sarcasm while attacking the government. Questioning the success of virtual classrooms, he said, "Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray launched virtual classrooms along with one Nenebai (Madhuri Dixit). Even though the programme got publicity because of Nenebai, no one knows about the status of the so-called virtual classroom, since all other advertisements by Nenebai are a hit on TV but not this virtual classroom." To that, BJP MLA Atul Bhatkhalkar commented, "It is not visible because it is virtual."

Concluding his half-an-hour speech, Patil said, "The chief minister has prepared a song on the lines of famous 'Beedi jalai le' from film Omkara, and changed it to ED lagayli hai (I have imposed Enforcement Directorate inquiry)."

He added that with the help of this song, the chief minister has tamed the tiger of Shiv Sena.

Meanwhile, BJP MLA Sanjay Kelkar tried to retaliate to allegations of scams using a dialogue from movie Waqt and said, "Jinke ghar sheeshe ke hote hain, woh doosre ke gharon par patthar nahin feka karte (People with glass houses don't throw stones at others; houses."
