QUEPEM: At the inauguration of three garbage disposal pick-ups in
Quepem on Friday, Quepem MLA
Chandrakant Kavlekar alias
Babu blamed
PWD officials and the contractor for newly-tarred roads being washed away.
Some members of the
Aam Aadmi Party had recently laid coconut trees saplings in the potholes around the Quepem garden.
Kavelkar refused to accept charges that the local MLA is responsible for the damaged roads.
On why he did not advise the PWD to hotmix the road at a cost of 91 lakh before the monsoon,
Kavlekar said that the PWD is a technical department and is capable of deciding whether roads can be hot mixed in June or not.
The foundation stone for the first phase of a new market complex in Quepem will be laid soon after the assembly session ends, Kavlekar said. The foundation stone for 6 crore bus stand project at Karalli, Quepem, will be laid shortly as well. The government has already acquired land for the bus stand which includes an air-conditioned community hall,
RTO offices, library and sahakar bhandar.
