MUMBAI: Chief minister
Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the government is “searching” for
another route to carry out the
Dharavi redevelopment project.
After failing to attract a single bid for the project, the Dharavi Redevelopment Authority extended the deadline for submitting bids on five occasions, but developers did not respond. The last date for submission of bids was as recent as July 30. The cut-off date for slum rehabilitation was also extended from January 1, 1995 to January 1, 2000.
Fadnavis said the state was committed to the redevelopment of the slum and it will find an alternative to ensure the work is completed.
Fadnavis, however, refused to speak on the
BDD chawl redevelopment project and said that he will make a statement at a later date.
