Member Parliament and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Tariq Karra today hit out at the Central and state governments and said the “people at the helm of affairs have still not understood the gravity of the slipping situation and there is no serious and sincere effort to douse the anger of the people.”
“On the contrary, provocative statements and gestures showered by the responsible people further provoke the masses, thereby flaring up the anger,” Karra said in a statement issued late Friday.
While condemning the civilian killings Karra termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence as “criminal”. “PM Modi’s silence is criminal and thereby giving an impression of his tacit approval for the barbaric oppression, repression and suppression by the security forces on Kashmiri civilians,” he said.
The MP said he had already questioned the Union Home Minister as to what would be the status of use of pellet guns till the committee on looking for an alternative to pellet guns submits its report.
“Least he should have done was to ban the use of pellet guns which he did not. This portrays insensitive and casual approach of the BJP government in Delhi,” he said.
