Vote counting almost complete in provinces

Pretoria – The counting of votes at the IEC’s Results Operations Centre in Pretoria is nearing completion.

By 3.30pm on Friday, the vote counting in Mpmualanga province was 99% complete. The ANC has 70.74% in the province, followed by the Democratic Alliance (DA) at 12.93% and EFF at 9.39%. During the 2011 Local Government Elections, the ANC in the province won with 78.90%, followed by DA with 13.81%.

The ANC in Eastern Cape also fared well with the party leading with 65.25% votes, followed by DA 19.75% and EFF at 5.18%. A total of 99% of the votes have been counted.

In Limpopo, where the vote counting is at 97%, the ANC was sitting comfortably in the lead with 68.81% of the votes, followed by EFF with 16.66% and DA with 8.03%.  

In North West, the ANC was leading with 59.51%, the DA with 14.94% and EFF with 15.36%.

In KwaZulu-Natal, whose vote counting is currently 97% complete, the ANC seems to have retained its leadership with 57.18% followed by Inkatha Freedom Party with 18.86% and DA at 15.04% votes.

Meanwhile, vote counting in Free State is complete with the ANC winning by 61.53% votes, DA with 20.38% and EFF with 9.69% – SAnews.gov.za
