Matt Young Inks Memoir Deal With Bloomsbury

Matt Young 200 (GalleyCat)Matt Young has signed a deal with Bloomsbury. Young, a military veteran and a fellow from the Carey Institute for Global Good, has written a memoir entitled Eat the Apple.

Anton Mueller, an executive editor, negotiated the deal with Chris Clemans, a literary agent from The Clegg Agency. The publication date has been scheduled for 2017.

Here’s more from the press release: “Eat the Apple is the memoir of a young marine who deployed to Iraq and bravely re-deployed twice again. It begins the day Matt Young enlisted at the age of eighteen after drunkenly crashing his car into a fire hydrant. It uses a kaleidoscopic array of immersive narrative angles to tell the story of his three hard tours in Iraq during the surge and IED (improvised explosive device) road wars, dropping the reader unarmed into the heart of Marine Corps culture and laying bare the tragicomic absurdism of war in the 21st century, the manned-up vulnerability of those on the front lines, and the true if often misguided motivations that drove a young man to a life in the military.” (Photo Credit: Tara Monterosso)
