Kolkata: Two closed jute mills would reopen within a week, benefiting around 5,100 workers, state labour minister Moloy Ghatak said on Thursday.
"Prabartak Jute Mill, where work has been suspended since April 26, will reopen on August 7. Maintenance work will first start at the Kamarhati mill where all the 2,600 employees will be taken back," he said.
"Wellington Jute Mill at Rishra will reopen on August 10." Ghatak made the announcement after tripartite meetings with jute mill owners and workers' representatives.
Ghatak said work at these mills were suspended owing to jute crisis, which had been solved following ample supply of raw material. agencies
