Criminal arrested in PITA case

Pune: The Kothrud police arrested Kalyani Deshpande, an alleged sex racket operator on Thursday. She has been booked in atleast three recent cases registered under Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA).
The police team, led by inspector Radhika Phadake and sub-inspector Prem Waghmore, nabbed Deshpande from Sus on a tip-off on Thursday. "She has two cases of PITA registered against her here, while one with the Chatushrungi police station," said an officer from the Kothrud police station.
On July 20, the crime branch had busted a sex racket running by Deshpande in the Bhusari Colony area. Despande was also booked but was on the run since then.
Deshpande is in police records about 25 cases registered against her. She was exterened from city limits for the period of two years in February 2014. "After completing her externment period, looks like Deshpande again had started running sex racket in the city," said an officer from the crime branch.
