Governor Konijeti Rosaiah inaugurated a home for the aged visitors, established by ABSK Trust at Esakki Village in Courtallam on an outlay of Rs. 4 crore, on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rosaiah suggested that homes for senior citizens be established in all ‘temple towns’ across the country so that the aged, visiting famous temples, could offer their prayers without any anxiety of getting comfortable accommodation during their brief stay in these places even during festival seasons.

“The home established at Courtallam amidst lush green surroundings will be a boon to the aged visitors coming to this place,” the Governor said.

He lauded the ABSK Trust for having established similar homes at Tirupathi, Shirdi and Srirangam for the benefit of senior citizens visiting these holy places.

Mr. Rosaiah handed over cheques to Tenkasi Government Hospital (Rs. 1 lakh), Sri Kasi Viswanathar Temples at Courtallam and Tenkasi, Kumarar Temple at Ilanji and Porunthi Nintra Perumal Temple at Tenkasi (each Rs. 50,000) Gandhigram Trust at Sivasailam (Rs. 1 lakh), Raja Rajeshwari Annadhaana Samaj (Rs. 50,000), Sri Vikrama Nandha Trust (Rs. 50,000) and Ambalavanan Trust (Rs. 1 lakh).

District Revenue Officer M.G. Kulandaivel and Revenue Divisional Officer (In-Charge), Tenkasi, Keerthi Priyadharshini were present.

Earlier, Collector M. Karunakaran received the Governor who arrived at Shencottai by Pothigai Express Train.
