The District Congress Committee is launching a 48-hour demonstration in front of the Head Post Office here from 10 a.m. on Friday demanding immediate reopening of cashew factories under the management of the public sector Kerala State Cashew Development Corporation (KSCDC).

At a press conference here on Wednesday, DCC president Kodikunnil Suresh said that reopening of the KSCDC factories was an election time promise of the LDF. But even after two months of the LDF coming to power, the KSCDC factories remain closed and there is still uncertainty.
