Pretoria - Economic Freedom Fighters chairperson Dali Mpofu and Democratic Alliance leader Mmusi Maimane have had a jovial exchange about whisky on the floor of the election results centre.
This came as Maimane passed the EFF table on his way to the DA table, before calling an early victory in the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
Mpofu reminded Maimane about a bet they made during the 2014 general election about who would become Gauteng premier.
Had Mpofu's party won in the province, it would still have left him a loser with the cheaper version of Johnny Walker.
"We had a bet, so I said to him it must be a whisky thing, so he gets to get Blue Label because this guy is blue, and I get red.
"I said to him this is not fair, I get the cheap stuff, the Red Label."
Coalition talks

The DA's main branding colour is blue, while the EFF's colour is red.
It is, as yet, unclear whether this joviality would extend to coalition talks between the two parties.
In the Nelson Mandela Bay metro the DA, which has projected that it will get 47% of the vote, would have to find a coalition partner. The EFF's projected 4% could help the DA to govern, although the party is said to be in talks with the UDM and the United Front as well.
The DA might also have to talk to the EFF about coalitions in Tshwane, where all indications are that no party will get an outright majority, while a coalition government in the City of Johannesburg is also possible.
The parties are not yet commenting about coalition talks, which can only formally be conducted once the election results have been declared. That is expected to happen over the weekend.
