Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q took a break from their day job to flaunt their skills on the gridiron at Los Angeles Rams training camp on Wednesday (Aug. 3).
The Top Dawg Entertainment cohorts and West Coast natives had fun on the turf as Q chucked the football to Lamar, who ran down the field and caught it. “Bet y’all didn’t know @ScHoolBoyQ and @kendricklamar had skills [–] #MobSquad,” the Rams shared on Twitter.

Q, the former football star-turned-lyricist who recently dropped his sophomore album Blank Face LP, told Billboard that he would want to return to sports after his rap career. “Would love to get into some sports shit — I’ve been interviewed on ESPN twice,” he said. “But that’s down the road. I’m too young; them n–s is old up there. I ain’t got time. Not right now.”
This isn’t the first case of music MVPs switching up their roles for a more athletic endeavor — or vice versa. The 2016 U.S. men’s basketball team recently belted their hearts out by singing Vanessa Carlton‘s 2002 single “A Thousand Miles.”
Toronto Raptor DeMar DeRozan shared the clip on his Instagram, which not only featured the entire Team USA roster (Jimmy Butler, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving among others) performing in harmony, but a seemingly disgruntled Carmelo Anthony.

The New York Knick recently apologized to the singer for his grumpiness. “They know I don’t like early mornings,” he told NBA TV. “That was Jimmy’s [Butler] playlist, I’m taking the speakers back from him. No more music. I actually like that song though. I love the movie, you know White Chicks, but they got me early in the morning, I’m sorry Vanessa, I apologize.”
Carlton didn’t harbor any ill will toward the Knicks star, though. “I get it,” she tweeted at Melo. “Though the boys did sound pretty good. x”
