Keeping up the commitment to his agenda of Cleanliness Awareness, Governor Acharya Devvrat today participated in a Cleanliness Campaign organized by Nagar Parishad, Manali with the help of district administration at Nehru Chawk, Manali bazaar in Kullu district, today. Lady Governor Smt. Darshana Devi also participated in the campaign.The Governor himself took a broom and cleaned the market of manali main bazaar along with officials of district administration, members of Nagar Parishad, Taxi and Auto union and people in large.He said that it was essential to preserve the beauty of the hill State which was possible only with the involvement of all sections of the society. He said that lakhs of tourists visit the State every year and in order to promote tourism also towns cities and all tourist spots should be kept clean.He also took round of Manali bazaar and met the people.On the sideline of the campaign, while interacting with the media person, the governor urged the youth to fight against social evils like drug abuse and participate actively in cleanliness and plantation drives besides adopting cow rearing and organic farming. He said soon clusters of five villages would be formed in the State where the plantation drive would be undertaken on massive scale on special occasions like birthday and marriage anniversary etc.

The Governor said that number of diseases had increased due to excessive use of chemical farming. He said that best part of adopting natural system of farming was that it has no financial implication and the farmers would not have to outsource from the market as it was prepared naturally by the farmer himself.  He said that in natural farming, the farmers should be encouraged to rear domestic cow instead of hybrid one imported from abroad. He said that the cows found in hilly areas were significant in many ways. He said that to produce maximum or double agriculture crops in a limited area, process of natural farming should be adopted. The Governor said that farmers of Sikkim State had adopted zero budgeting natural farming and were getting better results.Earlier, the Governor was accorded a warm welcome at Sase helipad at Manali bhang in Kullu district by district administration on reaching Manali today. Lady Governor Smt. Darshana Devi was also accompanied the Governor.On his two day visit to Kullu district, the Governor will flag off para cycling expedition of divyang yodha organized by border security force tomorrow on 5th August.The governor also visited Rohtang and admired the beauty of the valley. He also spends some time in rani nalah and Beas Kund and interacted with localites and tourists. He urged them to preserve the natural beauty and took extra precautions not to litter wastes. He also visited Marhi Mini Hydel Project.
