BJP office-bearers to use party's own app for official tasks

BJP office-bearers to use party's own app for official tasks
SURAJKUND: The BJP on Thursday launched a mobile app – Digital BJP --for internal use by members to coordinate party activities. The app, launched by Haryana chief minister ML Khattar, will also store information on all earlier party events, statements by leaders, election data, internal circulars, and even news clippings and media coverage. These can be used as a ready-reckoner by party spokespersons.
The Android app, also available as a web app for desktops, is entirely cloud-based and is only for party office-bearers.
Those authorised to post content at the mandal, district, state and national levels can upload pictures, videos, news articles, and other updates, which will be vetted by an approver. These can then be accessed by party members across the country.
The app has currently been launched only for the state of Haryana for now. BJP IT Cell national head Arvind Gupta told TOI that they hope to roll the app out countrywide in the next six to eight months. “This will be the nerve center for the party. It is a cloud-based app that will have all historical and current data relevant to the party. We are going to digitise past records and upload it to the app,” says Gupta.
Addressing party workers at the training and launch event at Surajkund, Gupta said technology is going to play a big role in the 2018-19 elections. “For the 2014 elections, it was predicted that 160 seats will be impacted by social media. I can say that for the next Lok Sabha elections, 300 seats will be impacted by digital technology, and BJP will be ten steps ahead,” he said. The workers were being trained to correctly upload content, and to tag it to make it easier to search in the future.
