While the number of students may be unprecedented, the trend of students from state boards of Tamil Nadu and Kerala taking admission in SRCC in particular, and DU in general, began in 2010, recalls former SRCC principal P C Jain, when the required cut-off first touched 100 per cent. Last year too, the college had one section of B Com (H) only comprising students from Tamil Nadu.

“It was in 2010, when the cut off touched 100 per cent for the first time and a girl from Kerala had scored 100 per cent in all her subjects, that the issue first got attention. From then on, more and more students belonging to these state boards have taken admission in the college and university,” said Jain.
