BENGALURU: Jayanagar police arrested five people for allegedly murdering a private company employee by burying him alive in a field last month.
Police said K M Yogesh, 27, a resident of Jayanagar, was missing from July 19, and their search led them to Chandrika, his former girlfriend. Yogesh’s family said Yogesh and Chandrika had broken up after she married Pratap Shivkumar a few years ago, but resumed the affair again.
“Chandrika claimed that Yogesh started blackmailing her.
She told her husband everything and Pratap and three of his friends planned to kidnap Yogesh,” police said.
They abducted Yogesh near South End Circle. “Yogesh was taken to Pratap’s farmhouse at Attimagere in Magadi taluk. They attacked Yogesh and he lost consciousness. Then, the four men dug a pit and buried him alive,” police said.
The five arrested are Pratap Shivkumar, 25, his wife Chandrika Pratap, 28, both residents of Srinagar, Narasimhamurthy alias Kabbaddi, 28, T Deepak, 25, and KS Venkatesh, 28, all residents of Ramanagara.
