MALDA: A couple was assaulted by neighbours after the two protested against loud music being played during a wedding party on Tuesday night at Musaharpara near Ratua police station.
According to police, the victims, Jogesh and Papia Musahar, were attacked with a chopper by their neighbour Sairu Musahar on Wednesday.
"On Tuesday there was a wedding at Sairu's house.
They were playing loud music and it was quite late. We could not sleep owing to the noise. Around 1am, I asked them to turn off the mike but they didn't budge. A scuffle broke out and I returned home," said Jogesh.
On Wednesday, Sairu and with some women allegedly stormed his house, with Sairu stabbing him in his hand with a chopper. "My wife tried to save me, but she was also assaulted by Sairu," Jogesh added. Sairu is absconding, say police.
