Belagavi: The summonses issued by the SC to the five accused in the rape and murder of Sheetal Chougale in 2007 have returned with the note "not available in address".
Sheetal's mother Kanchana had filed a private complaint before the apex court after the Karnataka high court acquitted the accused.
Kanchana, who has been directed to provide the new residential addresses of the five accused, approached Kakati and Camp police to trace the accused who did not receive the summonses.

Prime accused and Sheetal's husband Ravindra Chougale, his girlfriend Reena Tahasildar, Rajesh Menase, Ranjeet Shintre, Parushram Kamble and Vijayanand were summoned. Only Vijayanand received the summon.
Ranjeet's brother and notorious gangster Praveen Shintre was at large and found at a lodge in Mangaluru district.
He was brought back to Belagavi and shot dead when he attempted to fire at police at Rajdeep Bungalow, Defence Colony, where Sheetal was gang-raped.
