Devotees throng temples on first Shravan Navratra

KANGRA: Thousands of pilgrims thronged Bajjreshwari and Jwalamukhi temples on the first day of Shravan Navratas here.

Thousands of pilgrims thronged Bajjreshwari and Jwalamukhi temples on the first day of Shravan Navratas here. The pilgrims thronged the temples from the wee hours of the morning. Jwalamukhi and Bajjreshwari temples are among the 52 Shakti peeths.

Dr Ashok Kumar Pathania, temple officer at Jwalamukhi temple, said thousands of pilgrims paid obeisance on the first day of the Navratra.

He said additional 60 sweepers on the temple premises and 20 in the town had been deployed for sanitation and cleanliness.

He said medical camp was set up on the temple premises medicines were distributed free of cost. He said that legal awareness camp was also set up on the temple premises.

Meanwhile, authorities have imposed ban on offering coconut in the temples in view of security reasons.

Kangra District Police Chief Sanjeev Gandhi said adequate police personnel had been deployed in the three temple towns to maintain law and order and regulate traffic in the towns.

He said more than 200 Home Guards had been deployed in Bajjreshwari, Jwalamukhi and Chamunda Devi shrines for regulating the pilgrim traffic.

He said that DSP rank police officer had been made in charge to maintain law and order and keep a vigil on the security scenario in these temple towns.
