Accused tried to mislead cops with ransom SMSes
MUMBAI: The Bhayander man, Ajay Vishwakarma (22), who killed his friend to take revenge had sent ransom SMSes to the victim’s family but not warned against going to the cops, something kidnappers usually do.
Vishwakarma was arrested on Tuesday for the abduction and murder of his friend Jay Prajapati (20) on July 27. Prajapati had slapped Vishwakarma three months ago in front of their friends.
Seeking revenge, Vishwakarma procured a SIM card and posed as a woman, Nancy Dixit, to engage in chat with Prajapati. He even mimicked a woman’s voice and spoke to Jay.
On July 27, ‘Nancy’ decided to meet Prajapati in Vasai and the latter took Vishwakarma along. However, ‘Nancy’ delayed the meeting and Vishwakarma and Prajapati kept driving around. After it turned dark, Vishwakarma revealed that he had been posing as Nancy and killed Prajapati. Vishwakarma and his friend then dumped the body in Naigaon. A day later, he sent an SMS to Prajapati’s father, seeking Rs 15 lakh.
Vishwakarma told the police that the SMS was to mislead the family and the police to believe that Jay had been abducted. tnn
