New Delhi, Aug 3 : Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Civil Lines, B.K. Jha on Wednesday prohibited holding of any public gathering and protest near or around Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence in Civil Lines area of the city.
In his August 2 order which became public on Wednesday, Jha said that it has been reported that various political parties and groups may organise protests near the Chief Minister's residence which may create law and order problem.
"August has many festivals such as Independence Day, Raksha Bandhan, Parsi New Year and Janmasthami. Therefore it is apprehended that any protest will create public nuisance and serious law & order problem."
"Therefore under the power of section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code I prohibit holding of any public meeting, assembly of five or more persons, protest, shouting of slogans or making speeches, carrying placard or banners in the area of Flagstaff Road, I.P. College trisection and Rajpur road in Civil Lines," Jha said in his order.
This order will remain in force upto August 31.
