RLD blames civil hospital for Munna Chauhan’s death

LUCKNOW: Two days after the demise of its former state president Munna Singh Chauhan, the Rashtriya Lok Dal on Tuesday alleged laxity and medical negligence on the part of the doctors at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Hospital Lucknow, and have requested UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to constitute a high level probe in this case.
Senior RLD leader Dalveer Singh in his letter sent to UP CM said, “Munna Singh Chauhan was admitted to Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Hospital Lucknow on July 27.Proper treatment was not given to the RLD chief by the doctors posted there nor any timely examination was done to ascertain his exact medical condition.” Even before his health started deteriorating, a referral slip to send him to another hospital was ready, alleged Dalveer Singh.
“It was in Sanajy Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences dengue was detected, and due to non-timely medication, Munna Singh Chauhan lost his life,” added Dalveer.
Dismissing all the allegations of Dalveer Singh, medical superintendent of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Hospital Lucknow Dr Ashutosh Dubey said, “We acted on the complaint after assessing Chauhan’s condition, and then referred him to higher centre on the same day (July 27) itself at around 12.00 noon.”
Dr Dubey further elaborated that Chauhan was admitted in the ICU (bed number 1), and while he was sent to the referral centre, he sat in the ambulance. “If there is any delay in reaching the higher referral centre, then we are not to be blamed,” the medical superintendent said.
