Splash of fun and frolic at a city club
Young members of Tollygunge Club soaked in some real fun recently as the club hosted the TICCT Competition — an inter-club swimming competition that has been going on for almost four decades now. Besides Tolly Club, participants from Calcutta Club, Calcutta Swimming Club and Saturday Club, aged five to 19, took part in the event. Evey year, the competition provides a platform for children to indulge in some healthy contention.
It also improves their swimming skills. Freestyle, breast stroke, butterfly and back stroke formed a part of the routine along with
relay rounds.
Samhita Bannerji, ex-officio TICCT committee, said, “The most important part of this competition is to inculcate a spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie between the children. Another advantage is that the local children get a chance to swim and compete against the expatriate swimmers.”
The fun-filled event was followed by a grand lunch where all the participants savoured scrumptious Indian delicacies.
