GANDHINAGAR: Congress MLA and spospokesperson of party's state unit, Shaktisinh Gohil, filed an application of complaint at the Gandhinagar Sector 21 police station against Telangana BJP whip, T Raja Singh, and BJP national president Amit Shah alleging anti-dalit remarks and conspiracy.
On July 31, Singh had allegedly justified the brutality inflicted on Una dalits and called them 'filthy'.
In his complaint, Gohil has demanded action against Singh and Shah under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act for the offensive remarks.Senior Gandhinagar police officials told TOI that they had received the application on Tuesday night but are yet to take a decision whether it merits registration of an FIR.
"T Raja Singh, a key BJP leader and whip, must have spoken after consulting his high command. So, as party leader, Amit Shah is also responsible for Singh's statement. Both leaders must be punished under law," says Gohil's application of complaint.Gohil has further said that despite the report of the CID (crime) that the cow being skinned was killed by a lion at Una and not by dalit community members, Singh had intentionally accused them of killing the animals, thereby showing clear intention to hurt feelings of the dalit community and the people of Gujarat.Sources in the police department said registering an FIR in the case would be difficult on several counts.
