Cabinet nod to 2nd phase of water scheme, to kick off from November 16

The state government on Tuesday announced the launch of second phase of ambitious Mukhyamantri Jal Swavalamban Yojana from November 16, 2016.The cabinet gave the green signal for the scheme which would cover 4,200 villages at a cost of Rs 2,100 crore with high-tech applications.

JAIPUR: The state government on Tuesday announced the launch of second phase of ambitious Mukhyamantri Jal Swavalamban Yojana from November 16, 2016.
The cabinet gave the green signal for the scheme which would cover 4,200 villages at a cost of Rs 2,100 crore with high-tech applications. In a first of its kind, the government would use drone for the survey of selected villages and ‘Waypoint software mobile application'.
Using the software application, the control room at Jaipur could track the traversal path of the workers employed under the scheme.
The scheme has also been extended to the urban areas covering 190 towns and cities. Besides, the scheme has been linked to the PHED and agriculture department which extracts water for drinking water and cultivation by earmarking the wells and tanks to be constructed and the crop pattern decided according to the availability of water in the area. Provision has also been made for the upkeep of the plants under NREGA. He said a five year maintenance plan is also being drawn up linking the scheme to NREGA to take care of the plants. Addressing the media, Parliamentary affairs minister Rajendra Rathore said the second phase of the programme would kick off from November 16 on completion of the survey from August 8 to September 15.
Rathore claimed that the first phase of the project had been a great success with 98% of the target achieved. The target was to construct one lakh watershed structures at 3,529 villages of which 92, 500 structures have been constructed with an investment of Rs 1,740 crore. It was also informed that, out of the 25 lakh tree plantation targeted, 16.5 lakh have been done and the remaining part of the target would be met in the month of August.
The cabinet gave its approval for the new sewage and waste water policy. As per the new policy no water except the rain water should be on the road. The policy is being framed with a 30 year perspective. The new law would be applicable in area where the water usage per person is more than 135litre per day which covers district headquarters, NCR region, heritage city and cities and townships with over one lakh population, Rathore informed.

The cabinet decided to offer customized package to 10 firms which had submitted detailed project report to set up industries under Resurgent Rajasthan partnership submit held last year. The total investment of these companies is Rs 2520.05 crore generating 6,709 employment.
