29-year-old woman murdered in guest house

KOLKATA: As the illicit relationship had gone wrong 29-year-old woman Sarathi Haldar was murdered at a guest house by her boyfriend near CMRI Hospital in Ekbalpore.

Sarathi was a resident of Raidighi in South 24-Parganas has checked into Zoheb Guest House at Ekbalpore Lane with her boyfriend Maharaj Haldar on Sunday afternoon.

DC (Port) Sudeep Sarkar said.” The duo posed as a married couple but produced original voter cards. During investigation it was found that Sarathi’s husband’s name is Dilip Haldar.”

He said “The two told the manager that Sarathi came to Kolkata for treatment. The two checked in around 1pm on Sunday. Dilip had called the caretaker at 2.45 pm once but he was not at the guest house when the caretaker responded. Around 9pm, the caretaker noticed the room locked from outside. He peeped through the window and found Sarathi lying on the bed unconscious.”

The cops break open the door, they found her saree tied around the neck. She was immediately rused to the SSKM hospital where she was declared brought dead.

A senior official said.”A letter reportedly found by Maharaj claimed Sarathi was a sex worker but he never knew about it till Sunday . He felt betrayed and decided to murder her. He claimed he had left to commit suicide. Maharaj is absconding. Sarathi’s husband has been informed on but he refused to turn up till Monday morning. The Ekbalpore police has registered a case of murder and is further investigating the case.”
