Tinseltown is a big draw for many young aspirants looking to have a career in films. And the new generation from some of the state's most famous political families is no different. Currently, Sandalwood has four young lads from political families trying their luck in films '
Anup Revanna (son of HM Revanna),
Nikhil Kumar (son of HD Kumaraswamy, grandson of HD
Deve Gowda), Sachin (son of
Cheluvarayaswamy) and
Zaid Khan (son of
Zameer Ahmed Khan).
Each of these youngsters have big-ticket names associated with their releases. While Anup, who has already made his debut with R Chandru's Lakshmana, has S Narayan and Chandru directing him in his second and third films respectively, Nikhil has Vijayendra Prasad of
Baahubali fame as the scriptwriter of his debut film ' the Kannada-Telugu bilingual Jaguar. Mahesh Sukhadare has directed Sachin's debut vehicle Happy Birthday, while
Indrajit Lankesh is tipped to direct
Zaid in his first film.
With each of these actors having spent months preparing for their big-screen outings, they seem to be far more ready than their predecessors in Sandalwood. If one looks closely, the only successful actor from a political family has been
Kumar Bangarappa (son of the late S Bangarappa), who had a slew of hits. His brother,
Madhu, unfortunately didn't taste the same level of success onscreen.
Others who have tried their hand at films include
Om Prakash Nayak (son of BT Lalitha Nayak), the late Ajay
Gundu Rao (son of the late Gundu Rao) and
Vyjayanthi (daughter of KH Srinivas). Even the late
Rakesh Siddaramaiah (son of Siddaramaiah), who passed away recently in
Belgium, had tried his luck at acting, but to no avail.
